The expected apologists talking the usual shit I see. He was a quasi-dictator who rode a commodity boom whilst performing populist acts and squirreling away a few billion $ for himself. I could have done that. f**k him. What did he do with all that wealth for his country's future? How f**k is Venezuela when the oil revenue drys up?

No one has brought this up as of yet....
According to the Venezuelan constitution, when the sitting president dies the leader of the National Assembly is appointed interim president until a special election is held and a new president is elected. Chavez's VP Nicolas Maduro and others very loyal to Chavez decided f**k that and illegally swore in Maduro in as President violating the nation's constitution, one in which they helped write after disbanding the previous congress when Chavez was first elected. What he did for the poor was great and all, but that does not mean you simply ignore what he did in regards to every other aspect of his admin. Banana Republic if I ever saw one. Keep the poor sufficiently happy, keeping them ignorant to the obvious, and Chavez and his bros can run Venezuela for life.
