Egypt will never change, and neither will the Middle East... at least not towards democracy or civil liberties, anyways.

The vast majority of the Middle East prefers to be ruled over authoritatively. It is a culture with a long and illustrious history of conformity at all costs.

You didn't list a single meaningful change. Not one.

Syrians are still killing each other for political power, Egyptians are still oppressing everyone they can, and not a single damned thing has changed other than perhaps the ruling party. Day to day life hasn't changed. The rights of the individual haven't been increased.

I asked for a real change, not a structural change.

There have been structural changes, yes.

But more pointedly, what stops people from voting for Islamic law, and the same injustices seen in the past?

That is what happened in Egypt. They got democracy, and voted for the Muslim Brotherhood.

No one knows what the future holds but my guess is the're not going to drasticaly change their culture just to suit us.

We aren't exactly rushing to change our culture to accommodate their cultural ideals either.

Would really depend on what that outlook might be. Such as the free expression of ideas without fearing death threats in response.

That is something that absolutely must change.
