I live around Mennonites, too ex. and I have never seen or heard of any such thing. Most businesses. like Home depot and TSC provide the Mennonites with sheds and hitching posts to tie up their horses and rigs. They don't have to do that. but they do have to provide wheelchair access.
Mennonites have their own schools and they are ostracised because they are different. But beatings? Never heard of any such thing. All I've seen is people bending over backwards to get their money by offering them a place to tie and water their horses.
The Mennonites also keep to themselves for the most part.
That's not to say that Canada is not as racist as the US or any other place, because it sure as hell is.
What people do on their own property is their own business. The Mennonites do the same. Ask one of them for permission to hunt and you will see. You will never defeat or end private prejudice. I don't back it, but I might as well not back gravity.
