The US economy of the 90's saw rapid growth, increased taxes and a budget "surplus" but we still added to our debt. Even in good times, we won't see any real effort to decrease our debt. The political atmosphere won't allow for it on all sides.
I mean, I'm sorry fellas, but we pay billions each year already on interest alone not to mention a whole horde of other useless crap. If you want to charge it all to a credit card with no limits then we have a serious problem on our hands.
