That's cheap talk though, smoking mortality used as a business concept is just a quick way to usher in popular authoritarianism... there is no value to that level of cynicism, and it backfires massively. How fast do you want the free market ended?

I wonder if we aren't due for more legislation like this. It seems to me that 21 (or maybe 26) is being seen as the new 18. Between the high number of young adults pursuing college and graduate degrees financed by parents or loans and the poor economy keeping them dependent, it seems that today's young adults are experiencing an extended childhood. Should we really be surprised that our government is treating them like children?

I never said they were incompetent, shielded from responsibility longer than previous generations perhaps, but not incompetent. It is also important to note that their parents, not their peers, are writing these laws. What matter is not their capabilities, but their parent's perception of their capabilities.
