Honestly, I think this is nothing more than a case of updating the law to get rid of an obvious loophole.

If you have a sale that that applies to certain goods, then that sales tax should be added regardless of how you went about buying those goods, otherwise all you're doing is creating an unfair marketplace where certain companies get an advantage for no apparent reason.

The greatest injustice in the world's economy is that capitalism is an exclusive property right instead of an equal property right. So an internet sales tax isn't going to re-level anything.

What it will do is kill online sales, which in turn will kill online small business, especially the one-man operations. It's also going to give the IRS an excuse to harass online businesses, the ones who can least afford it.

Why is an internet-specific national sales tax a serious consideration when the Fair Tax is a far better solution in every respect?
