Obviously. I just don't like sales tax. I'm fine with continuing to pay a state income tax instead. What I worry about in our state is that we'll wind up with BOTH and be screwed even more.

Banning Wal-Mart would help small business too, doesn't mean it's a good idea.

Increasing (or establishing new) sales taxes is just taking money out of consumers hands and feeding it to the government. Rarely could that be considered a good thing.

I'm not sure I agree that this is all good news for small stores. Amazon, Target, and WalMart have had years to improve their supply chains and delivery systems while benefiting from sales tax avoidance where they don't have a physical presence. Amazon pays now but it has mastered this corner of the market by promising soon in the future to be able to do same day delivery...

Small stores will not be able to compete with that and Amazon's absolute lack of storefront keepers. Their upkeep is all tied to supply side logistics and website maintenance (Which any small business should have now anyways). I feel like the big box retailers rode the wave, prepared for this moment, and will now corner the market further. Small stores cannot compete on that level.
