If Jason had been the first celebrity or something along those lines, it would be much more significant. But coming out is already old news. It doesn't get that much play, like say Jackie Robinson.

There's not a baseball fan or for that matter, most other people that don't know who Jackie was or what he did for black people and black athletes in particular. Baseball was THE sport. America was listening, whether they wanted to or not. Communications, especially electronic communications, weren't what they are now. Everything is in passing these days, quickly for the most part.
