US is in decline? From when?

The 50s? Not really, because much of the world was reliant upon the USSR, the US wasn't the "big fish". We were one of 2 big fish.

The 90s? If anything, our global influence has grown since the collapse of the USSR, as now we are the "only fish".

Yeah, we had a decline in 2008. But, considering that the rest of the world (Europe, ME, Asia) all but imploded between 2003 and 2008, we fared pretty well.

Yeah I think this whole "US is going down zomg" stuff is entirely, WAY overblown. Look at the comments here, "we're going to be outsourcing intellectual property", US inventiveness is a "myth" "manufacturing is 20% of the economy we're so screwed".

Dumb. Naive. Simplistic.

The US's strength is that it gets all of the American awesomeness, then it also benefits by draining the brains of the rest of the world. It's ok if a ton of start ups or "inventions" are done by foreigners in America, because they are staying here to be Americans, and building those corporations here.

We don't need to manufacture everything in the world either. We could use more, probably, but we don't need to be making cheap, low margin, shitty products which require no brain power to create. US manufacturers are adding hi-tech, hi-skill manufacturing jobs here in the US. Economic efficiency is increase. Product quality is increasing. Everything is getting better.

We have the best universities in the world. We get the best students in the world. People from all over the world come to start business here. We have a robust economy, that can weather any economic downturn better than just about any other place on earth.

Quit worrying. You guys are like doomsday preachers

It was 90% accurate. We have some of the best universities. A lot of things are getting better. Not "everything."

Your insecure need to call people names from behind the safety of your keyboard notwithstanding. Dharma has a very extreme position, and any good news at all invalidates it...so of course he has every reason to plug his ears sing "LALLALALALALALA!!!" whenever there is good news about the evil western world. Particularly that part of it within this set of imaginary lines.

You just have to work from that basis, and take the good with the bad.
