So why is it ok for Obama to ground US aircraft because of lack of funds and buy Russian helos for Afghans?

Any actual answers to that, or you liberals will just continue to try anything, ANYTHING, grab at any little straw, to take attention away from Obama doing this? Unlike anyone else, I won't let it go. I will continue to ask until I get an answer.

If you want to talk about nuclear weapons, start a thread on it. This one is about Obama spending 3/4 of a billion dollars on aircraft for a foreign air force after grounding some of our own for lack of money.

Should also be pointed out that in fact Obama didn't ground any planes. Congress did. They control the budget.

You don't get to write a new narrative for this discussion, dontworry. Nobody has distracted from anything or avoided anything. At all. Well, other than yourself, with your talk of nukes and unrelated defense budget cuts.

Its pretty damned simple to understand why Russian equipment was purchased. Its been explained in this thread clearly. Do you need a picture drawn or something?

As I said in the third post of this thread, clear back on page one, in what I consider to be fairly simple english:

Plus, these are the helicopters Afghan forces have already been flying for decades. If we were to send them unfamiliar American choppers, we'd have to also spend time and money on training them to use them, and install the support infrastructure, etc. Hell with that noise.

The Russians actually make pretty damn good choppers. This is all just political goal tending.

I hate to give any credit here, but it's a good way to avoid responsibiility for the aircraft. Let the Russians supply parts and mechanical support. The afghans will never pay anyway.

Another possiblility is that an American company already is the supplier and the deal is sealed.

Who knows why. You probably won't find out unless you're involved.

Or it's because of what has been said a number of times about familiarity with the aircraft.
