No matter how high tech we get, people will always need food, shelter, and water. And they will need a means to secure it.A prototype of a new wizbang don't always mean it will become mainstream.Cost prohibitive will always be a factor. The Concorde did not revolutionize air travel, but it did make a fine meseum piece. We can go to the moon, but the general public can't, and probably not for a long time. We use GPS guided tractors here to some degree, other parts of the world still use water buffalo, and probably will for some time to come. But I seriously doubt we will ever build a machine that will save us from ourselves.
