the genovese case was inaccurately portrayed by the media. the witnesses only saw parts of it, and did not realize the seriousness of it. two people were aware she was stabbed, but the newspaper said 38 people were. the rest thought they were having a drunken lover's quarrel or something. but it was portrayed in the media how the above pictures and video showed what transpired in london: extreme apathy

While I realize that this may come as a surprise to some Americans, the British aren't exactly like us. That's their culture, so why the constant need to pass judgement of "this is how we would do it"?
Seriously, we in the US live in the most violent country in the developed world AND we're going to pass judgment on how Brits react to a horrific act with a bunch of shoulda, coulda, woulda's?

Well, I said earlier that they seemed curious, but curiously calm. I meant it to be interrogative.
Maybe that's not a bad thing.
